“Creating information structures…” or “buildings that store data…”? – On students’ perceptions of information architecture (in light of surveys)

Anita Has-Tokarz, Renata Malesa

The subject of the presentation will be the results of a survey conducted among students of three faculties of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (a sample of over 200 people). The aim of the research was to determine the degree of recognition of information architecture as a field of study, knowledge of the specifics of its subject, awareness of the role and importance of AI in a world dominated by technology, as well as the prospects, skills and professional opportunities offered by training in the discipline. The research also includes a comparative analysis of differences in the perception of AI by students in this field of study and those studying in other fields of study in the humanities and social sciences (media production, journalism and social communication, German studies, Hispanic studies), as well as students in the sciences (computer science, mathematics).
