Information architecture and university library websites

The talk will present the results of a study related to the information architecture of websites. The aim of the study was to find out whether the basic tenets of AI are implemented on university library websites. The library websites of all twenty universities participating in last year’s ‘Initiative of Excellence – Research University’ competition were queried. The portals of these libraries were checked for content organisation (schema, structure), labelling, navigation and search; the study also considered the following issues: the content and graphics of the sites, and their consistency with the visual identity of the parent universities’ portals.
